Great Speakers!!!
Well, it seems that it is not necessary to write another positive review for these fantastic speakers. There are too many out there and it seems redundant but I think they deserve to have one in this buying website for those who might be intrigued by all those good reviews and just want to confirm.
I have a decent audiophile quality system in my living room which is always my reference. Some of my friends also share this fascination for audio equipment and I also have listened to their expensive systems. In summary I kind of know when something sounds good or when it is just crap. I have my standards.
Some months ago I bought the Audioengine A2 for my home office and I was blown by the clarity and resolution of those little guys. I just like very forward speakers that bring all the music detail without being loud. That is what those guys did and that is why I went with Audioengine again. I had a couple of Cambridge Audio S20 connected to my Fatman tube dock and the sound was not crisp enough, I had to turn the volume up in order to get some musical detail. I knew this little amp could do better, this is my office system and I cannot crank it up without disturbing my colleagues. Based on my experience with the A2 I decided to try the passive AP4. What did I get? I got exactly what I was expecting. A crisp, forward, detailed sound without the need of excessive volume. The AP4 speakers deliver the quality of sound I want matching perfectly with the softness of the tube amplification making and excellent couple with my amp.
These Audioengine AP4 speakers are really, really good. I was searching and searching, just maybe like you are, and I do not regret to get this speakers at all. I am very happy with them. If you like detail, forward type of speakers these AP4 are very good for you. I highly recommend them.
PS. I waited for my colleagues to leave and turn the volume up; these guys can handle perfectly loud music without distorting. All the musical properties remain the same.
