For My Outdoor Porch
I bought my first pair of BIC speakers in 1974 and still use them. Only had to install new woofer surrounds since they were in poor condition.
I also use BIC as my home theater fronts, center and rear speakers. Love them.
So when it came time to purchase a set of outdoor speakers I researched the BICs first.
I went with the Acoustech Series since the specs were awesome and the price of $152.00 for the pair could not be beat.
I installed them yesterday on my outdoor porch which is 20′x 40′. They installed very easily but I accidentally dented the front grill on one by setting it face down.
The grill is not removable so I’ll have to live with it. But as they are installed about 12′ off the floor, I could not see the small dent I created. My advice…be careful with the grill.
Now for the sound quality.
These are wired to an older Technics 100 watt amp that I’ve had since ‘74. Using my itouch as the music source I gave them a good tryout.
Extremely clear and detailed highs. Had to turn up the Bass on my amp to get more of the lows. But I was expecting this since they are mounted so high. With my amp now adjusted, we (my Brother-in-Law and I) listened to various music formats. From county to rock to blues, they sound awesome. I am extremely happy with these speakers. My Brother-in-Law who only uses Klipsch speakers was very impressed too. He kept commenting “you got those for only $150?”. I also looked at the Klipsch but those would have been over $300 a pair. (I can get another pair of the Acoustech and be at the $300 mark). I also researched the Atrium 55’s from Polk Audio. Those are only $199 a pair and would have been my second choice.
But since I have used and am a very happy owner of BIC products since the ’70s I decided to keep purchasing their products. I could not be happier with the cost or more importantly, the sound. I would buy them again without hesitation.
