Big Bang for a Small Package
Before purchasing these speakers, I listened to about 20 sets of bookshelf speakers (including the Boston Acoustics HS60) at various local electronics stores. Many of the bookshelf speakers that I observed were very tinny, did not have much bass at all, and couldn’t handle a lot of power (they started sounding distorted after the volume was turned up). Some of the others that I heard were made by JBL, Sony, Bose, Polk, and Insignia ranging in price from $50 to $330 each. These Boston HS60 speakers had to be the best sound out of all the bookshelf speakers I listened to; even better than the ones that were much more expensive! HS60’s had full bass, treble, and mid-range without sounding tinny at all, and they didn’t sound distorted at all when the volume was turned up. I was particularly amazed at the bass and full, rich sound that came out of such small speakers. (The JBL “Monitor” bookshelf speakers were a close second, but still not as good as the HS60’s.)
I’ve had them for about a year now, and my guests cannot believe that such great sound is coming from such small speakers.
If you are looking for a great speaker, either to compliment an existing sound system or to stand alone, these Boston Acoustics HS60’s are an AWESOME choice!
