Incredible home theater speakers
Changed location of my home theater and needed to replace a pair of great sounding, 30+ year old Phase Research tower speakers with something smaller. I went to the local BB to see and hear what they had. I fell in love with the Def Tech Studio Monitor 350 speakers but thought that I would do some price shopping on line. I started doing my research on the the SM 350s and at that time found that the SM 450s, (next step up in the line) were priced considerably cheaper on Amazon, than the SM 350s . I ordered the SM 450s and am extremely thrilled with the sound that they produce. They sound better than the SM 350s, are as good or better than the towers that they replaced plus they don’t take up valualble floor space that the towers occupied. If I didn’t have a decent pair of surrounds at this time, I would purchase another pair of these speakers for that purpose. They are extremely well protected in the factory boxes that they are shipped in. These speakers a bit on the heavy side and they do come with a hanging hook on them to wall mount them. I built a speaker stand that allows the speaker to tilt forward so that the sound is aimed at the listening area. I placed these on an overhead shelf. Now I have to start charging for admission to my “theater”.
Great sound in a small package!
I love these speakers. I downsized from some large Infinities. I was afraid I wouldn’t find the sound I was used to with my old speakers, but the Definitive SM 450s are great. I had never even heard of Definitive Technology before, but they were demoed to me at Best Buy. I then did some web searching and found them for a discounted price. Love them and would buy them again.
SM450 ROCKS!!
Definitive Technology Studio Monitors 450 rocks the house. I was shopping around for some bookshelf speakers and couldn’t decide between the DEF TECH PC1000, SM350, or the SM450. From numerous chats on [...] and Chet at Def Tech, I’m glad I bit the bullet and purchase the SM450. The clarity and bass output is beyond this world for a bookshelf speaker and the more I play them, the better they sound. I have them pair up with a CLR2002 center and BP1.2x surrounds. I have transformed the way i watch TV now and I’m glad I went with Definitive Technology. These are well made, good quality best bang for the buck speakers. Very happy with the SM450.
