These are great little speakers. They have a small footprint and have a great balanced sound. They work great as stand alone speakers. I’m not sure I would pick them for a surround sound environment, but if you need stand-alone speakers with a small footprint, these are great.

I think these are great speakers for the price. I ended up buying them for about $25 each, I’ve had them for about 3 years now and I don’t regret it one bit. I didn’t have room in my bedroom for a full 5 piece speaker system, so I just when with these, which fit perfectly in our armoire. They provided enough base and treble to make movies and regular TV sound great. Of course, they are only 120W, so don’t expect this great surround sound, deep bass quality, but for the size and price, they fit the bill almost to perfection. Plus, as I stated before, I’ve had them for 3 years and have had no problem whatsoever.

I’m using these as the surround speakers (with larger Sony speakers in the front) and couldn’t be more pleased. Sound is crisp and clean, and bass response is surprisingly good. My only quibble: no provisions for mounting (mine are on the wall, and I had to drill and pray). I have a pair of slightly larger Polk bookshelf speakers in my office, and these Sonys are almost as good for half the price.

This is not a 2 way speaker, but a fullrange speaker with a supertweeter. There is nothing wrong with this type of speaker, in fact, I much prefer it to a 2 way which is crossed over in the critical midrange area. This however requires the main driver to go to at least 15,000 Hz. Unfortunatly,

Sony put in a woofer which probably only goes to 5,000 Hz hence the hole in the midrange.

This speaker is fine for background music, but doesn’t cut it for home theater. The midrange is so muddy I miss alot of the dialog.

I plan on salvaging the nice enclosures by installing a Fostex FE87E. Sure I’ll get MUCH less bass, but I can always add a subwoofer.

I bought these to attach to my laptop and sit on my desktop, small size was important. The fractional watt headphone amplifier in the laptop is enough to push these to reasonable volume. A visit to radio shack and some quick soldering produced a cable. Not exactly hi-fi, but better than the 1 1/2 inch speakers in the laptop. The real use is listening to radio web streams while I work, and playback of my ripped CD collection.

These are great speakers for small bookshelf speakers in the back of the room or up on the kitchen cabinets. They have good range and base for small speakers. I’ll be buying some like these except outdoor speakers for the deck.

I have purchased two sets of these speakers from the same company and have been very satisfied with the company and the product. I was looking for a set of small inexpensive bookshelf speakers and these more than fit the bill. Workmanship is very good and the sound quality is ample for what I wanted. For the price, I found these speakers to be a bargain.

I bought these speakers to replace a pair of large tower speakers I used as the front channel speakers. Individually these speakers wouldn’t be too impresssive, but paired with a powered sub, center channel and rear speakers they work great. Now I’m getting all the bass from the sub and am letting the surround bring the mids and highs. Also love the space savings in comparison to the old tower speakers.

I got these speakers because I’ve never had any good speakers in my room. So for $50 these things are awesome! I was amazed at the quality of sound you get with these. They sound fine by themselves, but paired up with the sony subwoofer (sa wm250 vary awesome too!) they sound great.

these are just fine when used in conjunction with a separate subwoofer. they replaced a very fine set of ads monitors that I had for years and I haven’t noticed any loss of sound. plus they are priced very well and take up so little room. definitely would buy again.

These bookshelf speakers were the perfect size and they pump out enough wattage for our needs. GREAT BUY!!!

These speakers are very fine considering the cost. Unless you need to blow out your windows with sound and care to spend what a washer and dryer costs, you will be pleased with the sound they produce. For those with limited space in their home theater system, they are ideal. I would buy these speakers again should the need presents itself, although I now have five of these for my surround sound system.

I was originally looking for speakers on ebay to add to a surround system I was putting togther and came across numerous sets of these. Most of the reviews I read on these made them seem like good speakers for the price. Fortunately that has been the case thus far for me as well. For their size I am suprised at the bass reproduction. I did not expect such a small speaker to push so much air. My main complaint is the somewhat muddy mid-range sound at high volumes or produced during heavily layered sections of music. But other than that well worth the $30(w/shipping) I paid for them.

For the price I paid, and I am not a professional musician, these speakers were very good!

I paired these with a 10″ Athena sub to replace some very old Boston Acoustics A150 three ways I bought back in the 80’s. Well, I got what I paid for. These are functional speakers, but there is no clarity. When I originally bought my A150’s 20 years ago, I compared the Boston Acoustic 2 way (A100) to the 3 way and noticed a vocal clarity difference in the 150’s. Well, I just lost it. These little speakers have crisp tweeters, but the pseudo-woofer just can’t reproduce midrange elements (vocal, piano, etc). I’ll keep these speakers since they are pretty cheap and can be used elsewhere. Now I need to find some similar sized speakers that will bring back the vocal clarity I just lost. Guess I need to get a crowbar and pry open my wallet. Or, honestly, go to a local store and do a listen test. That’s the only way to do an honest comparison. I wonder if I can find a little pair of 3 ways…

I hooked these up as the rear or effects speakers. I find them to be way superior to the ones that came with my set up and better than most that I’ve seen recently in the stores for twice the price. As effects speakers, you absolutely won’t go wrong. I wouldn’t shy from using a pair with a smaller “book shelf” system as the front pair either.

Paired with Sony’s SS-MB350H 8″ 3-Way 120-Watts Bookshelf Speakers, I am very pleased and plan to add a Sony sub woofer soon. My wife and I fought over using larger speakers and this was the compromise that seemed to work.

My husband and I just love these speakers. We replaced out old Aiwa speakers with these and could not believe the sound difference. We watched a movie we had watched before with the old speakers and heard sounds we had never heard before. We would highly recommend these speakers to anyone.

I needed some small speakers for an apartment and am so glad I found these. I went to Best Buy and tested speakers for about an hour. These were the best speakers for the price which is why they were probably all sold out. I checked out Amazon, and their price was ten bucks cheaper than Best Buy – plus the shipping was free! You can’t go wrong with the crystal clear highs, no hissing, and surprising bass from these little speakers…definitely two thumbs up.

Got a pair of these just to hook-up to the television. Didn’t work as well as I planned. Am now considering using them for the rear channels on a surround system. I was comparing them to my high-end stereo speakers. Although it really isn’t fair to judge a pair of $50.00 speakers against a pair of $1000.00 speakers. I found these little speakers weren’t very efficient. I found the specs rated at 87db. I would have thought the small drivers to be more efficient than that. So they require you to turn up the volume a little to hear them. I also find them a bit “muffled”. Still I give them a rating of 3 only because of the price. You typically get what you pay for and for $50.00 you get a pair of mediocre bookshelf speakers. I think they’ll pass for rear channel surround speakers if your not too demanding. I might add that they are constructed pretty well (solid) for the price range.

These are great soundings little speakers for the price. The frequency range sounds fairly flat through it’s advertised range 80MHZ-50KHZ. The highs don’t roll off at 20KHZ like some cheaper speakers due to the extended range tweeter. This is important if you listen to any piano or electronic type music that produce frequencies in that range.

The bass frequency response is good for it’s size, but you will want to add a subwoofer if these are your main speakers. They do not sound good if you turn up the bass and play them too loudly. For surrounds though, these speakers are exellent. The larger diameter woofer will allow you to low pass the frequncy being fed to these speakers at a lower range, which is essential for creating a richer surround effect. Too small of a speaker necessitates crossing the bass over to the sub at too high of a frequency for my tastes, and in addition to ruining the localization effect can make male voices sound too boomy without some tweaking. I’ve never been a fan of those all-in-one systems like Bose with the array of tiny satellites and single bass module, besides being way over-priced, they just don’t sound as good to me as larger speakers do. And while even these little Sony speakers can’t go toe-to-toe with a larger bookshelf or tower, you can create a pretty nice system for a whole lot cheaper than Bose or comparable brand by adding a few of these together with a sub.

One caveat, these speakers are not pre-made to wall mount. They have no keyhole or mounting screw made into the back. If you wish to mount them on the ceiling or wall, you will have to drill into the back of the speaker with wood or metal tapping screws to attach a mount. It’s not really a big deal, but some people may find that intimidating. It would be nice if Sony would have added that feature; however, you can always put them on stands.
